BMW REPAIR CENTRAL LOCKING

THE FIRST THING WE DO IS BACK TO SET THE KEY , THERE ARE TIMES WE WILL deconfigured and AS FOLLOWS :

1 / Get in the car and close the door .

2 / Put the contact in the first position (radio and speedometer on) within 5 seconds and remove it and take the key.

3 / Press the open button and keeping it pressed down the button three times to close .

4 / Release the buttons and do a shut close - open , and have that key .

when you finish the third pulsation to close you have to drop both the open button you had pressed for the 3 taps . If not resolved so you should change the relays


ZKE failure of the central locking module .


This fault is typical for BMW E46 ( 98-06 3 Series ) , the symptom is that when trying to open the car with the remote , the doors do not open , but , interior lights come courtesy , this shows that the key sends the signal , but the central locking ZKE module does not respond to the order. Also if we open with the key in the lock only managed to open the driver's door , making it impossible to open the other doors .

This problem is exacerbated in hot days or if the car been parked in the sun .


If you have started to detect this fault in your car , it will gradually become more consistent , and you only have two options , or go through the official dealer and loosen over 300 euros per unit change ZKE or follow the steps describe below to repair the module yourself .

- Disconnect the car battery.


- The module is at under the glovebox to desmotarla remove the screws shown in the picture.

Once opened, and removed the plate we see the happy relays we have to change . In some models, we will see two more relays red circle next to the photo , these are those who would control the electric seats , but in our case, you need to change are the ones we see marked in red .





On both sides of the plate, this is bathed with a varnish quite sturdy, with a little solvent , leaving it on for about 30 seconds, and rescando a bit with a screwdriver , we can remove this varnish .





Finish cleaning the entire area with a cotton swab or cloth and alcohol.
